Best In Dallas: Professional Ballerina Turned Entrepreneur Shares Her Faves for food, fitness, and where she likes to take her dog!

We love a list and a Best In Dallas list is even better! Today, professional ballerina turned entrepreneur Margot Martin reveals her Dallas faves for queso, fitness, dog stuff and more:

Ballerina, yogi, entrepreneur and Lululemon Athletica ambassador Margot Martin, per her bio, “has been immersed in the art of movement for over 27 years” and discovered her love for ballet at a young age. Her dance experience includes the Ursulin Academy of Dallas, Pacific Northwest Ballet in Seattle, being hired at the age of 17 as a founding member of the Carolina Ballet directed by Robert Weiss, a protégé of George Balanchine’s where she danced 13 seasons as a principal dancer. She is also a certified yoga instructor and completed her training with Alan Finger, founder of ISHTA Yoga in New York City. Margot has been teaching ballet technique internationally to children and adults for over 15 years and back in 2010 she began The Ballet Burn which combines both ballet technique and yoga.

Read on for Margot’s Best In Dallas list including fave spots for indulgent food, shopping, and her furry friend!

Foodie Favorite: Mesero

In Texas queso isn’t just a side dish, it’s Margot’s favorite food group and she said “Hands down Dallas’ best queso is at Mesero. The Queso Mesero is nothing short of heaven on a chip”. If you’re looking for close second then she recommends you check out the queso at Braindead Brewing in Deep Ellum and if you’re up for hike, La Hacienda Ranch in Frisco!

Fur babies: Squirt

“Dog friendly? Yes, please!” Meet Margot’s French Bulldog Squirt! Where do she and her fur baby like to spend time together? Margot enjoys taking Squirt to Toulouse on Knox where they share the pommes frites! They also frequently hang out at Mutt’s Cantina but whenever they are looking for somewhere less crowded they play at the dog park behind Central Christian Church off of Westside Dr. Margot and Squirt both love to enjoy a treat and at Jack and Jill on Oak Lawn, “Fancy treats and collars galore!”, because they have it all!

On The Move: The Ballet Burn

As mentioned above earlier, Margot is an entrepreneur and owner of The Ballet Burn. After retiring from a professional dance career of 13 years, Margot has created her own program which she describes as “It’s a beautiful combination of ballet technique, yoga, functional movement, dynamic cardio, and kick butt music. #betterthanbarre ;)”. If you’re looking for a fun and challenging workout that incorporates both ballet technique and yoga then you can join the fun when the studio opens on July 11th in the Preston Center in Dallas.

Brain Candy: Ascension

Located in Dallas’ Design District, Ascension, per their website, is “an Australian style coffee shop with simple European-café-type food and a laid-back, familiar atmosphere.” Whenever Margot needs to work from her laptop and respond to e-mails Ascension is her go to spot because she said it has “Great teas and people watching too”!

Bargain Hunter: Area 25

When Margot is shopping for home décor her go to place is Area 25 on Inwood in Dallas because she said “. I always find a treasure here”. They have an entire section dedicated to discounted items.
